A suspect has been arrested in connection with the murder of Seth Nyakio Njeri, a 23-year-old woman, in Thika, Kenya, on October 14, 2024. The victim's lifeless body was discovered inside Blessings Building in Biafra Estate, Thika town, leading to an extensive manhunt. Nyakio, a recent graduate of Zetech University, was found murdered in a house in the area, with preliminary police investigations suggesting strangulation as the cause of death. An autopsy confirmed that Nyakio died from strangulation, with evidence of an assault prior to her death. Bruises found on her neck, cheeks, thighs, and other areas indicated a struggle with her attacker. The suspect, identified as Gichunuku, was a former boyfriend of Nyakio, and his image and details had been circulated by the police as a wanted man. He had been on the run but was eventually traced and arrested in Busia town near the Kenya-Uganda border, where he had been working at a cereal distribution shop while hiding in plain sight. The arrest was made by the homicide team alongside their counterparts from Kisii South and Busia. The suspect is currently being detained for processing pending arraignment, with plans to bring him to Thika for further legal proceedings. The motive for the murder remains unknown, and the police are investigating the case. In other news, a 39-year-old man died in a hospital after being assaulted by his wife during a domestic fight in Butali village, Kakamega county. The man, identified as Isaac Mukolwe, was taken to the hospital where he died from head injuries. The body was moved to the mortuary, and an autopsy confirmed the cause of death. The police are searching for the woman involved. Additionally, a man was fatally assaulted while attending a disco event in Lwala, Bondo, Siaya County, and another man's body was found on the roadside in Lolwe, Kisumu county, with signs of a possible murder.
