Commandant's Pride: Kenya's Military Graduates of the Future (2026)

Bold statement: Leadership in uniform isn’t just about rank—it’s about shaping capable, confident officers who will lead with discipline and insight. And this is where the story gets revealing... The Commandant of the Joint Command and Staff College (JCSC), Major General Eric Kinuthia, led the graduation ceremony for JJCSC 102/25 at JCSC Karen on Thursday, 11 December 2025. He was flanked by key senior officers: Colonel Peter Karigih, the Colonel Coordination; Colonel Benjamin Kiprop, head of the Writing Team; Colonel Amani Kotea, head of the Teaching Team; and Lieutenant Colonel Moses Muchemi, head of the Junior Division.

In his remarks, the Commandant praised the graduating officers for their outstanding discipline, steadfast dedication, and focused effort throughout the demanding 14-week program. He conveyed confidence that the graduates have acquired essential knowledge and practical insights that will enhance their performance in both professional assignments and personal development.

Maj. Gen. Kinuthia personally distributed certificates to all graduates and recognized the course’s top performers with special accolades.

JJCSC 102/25 brought together 60 officers from the Kenya Army, Kenya Air Force, and Kenya Navy. This foundational career course is intended to equip participants with the core knowledge, skills, and understanding necessary for effective command and staff duties at unit and formation levels.

But here’s where it gets interesting: this program not only standardizes leadership competencies across services but also emphasizes joint operations, interoperability, and strategic thinking—areas that increasingly determine mission success. And this is the part most people miss: the real value lies in applying what’s learned under stress, across domains, and in real-world scenarios. Do you think joint training should be mandatory for all officers from the start of their careers, or should specialization precede cross-service education? Share your thoughts.
