Paramount+ has recently added a 2010s animated video game adaptation, but its even better sequel is missing. Video game adaptations have become a mainstream cultural force, with recent box office successes like A Minecraft Movie and The Super Mario Bros. Movie. Hollywood is showing no signs of slowing down, and fans eagerly await projects like Return to Silent Hill and Mortal Kombat 2. Paramount+ now streams The Angry Birds Movie, a 2016 animated film based on the popular mobile game franchise. Set on an island of anthropomorphic flightless birds, the movie follows Red, a grumpy outcast, as he attempts to stop a crew of pigs from wreaking havoc. While the movie received mixed reviews, it was a major box office hit, grossing over $352 million worldwide. The sequel, The Angry Birds 2, is considered one of the best video game movie adaptations, but it is not available on Paramount+ yet. The Angry Birds Movie, despite its flaws, successfully captured the game's spirit and style, earning a 44% critic and 48% audience rating on Rotten Tomatoes. The sequel, The Angry Birds Movie 2, released in 2019, scored 72% and 84% on Rotten Tomatoes, thanks to its improved character development and plot. A third film, The Angry Birds Movie 3, is set for release in 2027. Paramount+ also offers a range of family-friendly movies, including Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Ella Enchanted, Paddington, and others. What do you think?
